Smash

I light of the recent events in space a program that is meant to find way to deflect/destroy incoming asteroids has picked a target to test on.

"The joint European/U.S. Asteroid Impact and Deflection Assessment mission, or AIDA, will work to intercept Didymos in 2022, when the space rock is about 6.8 million miles (11 million kilometers) from Earth, European Space Agency officials announced Friday (Feb. 22)."

However Didymos is not a single asteroid it is two.  They will be hitting the smaller of the two with one satilite while they are recording the information with another. They are doing this in hope of learning how to prevent large asteroids from hitting earth.

Pope to step down

Pope Benedict has decided to step down form the Papacy after his nearly 80 year long hold on the office.

"VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict stunned the Roman Catholic Church including his closest advisers on Monday when he announced he would stand down in the first papal abdication in 700 years, saying he no longer had the mental and physical strength to run the Church through a period of major crisis."

Gun contorl

"Senate Judiciary Committee conducts first hearing on proposed gun control law"

There are many people that are for and against more and strictor gun laws, as demistrated in this hearing. However during this hearing the real problems came out. The fact that most all of the mass shootings of late were carried out by mental unstable people. Second  that the law abiding citeten you have nothing to worry about form them it is the criminals that are the problem the people who get their gun illegal. As seen in the past nearly every time a new gun law is put in place more crimes are comited. So the in all realty the true solution is not to have more gun laws, but to one protect our schools and public places, creating more jobs in the proccess, and cracking down on criminals. One way to do this is to have harsher punishment for crimes.

Space Robbing

"Call it space grave robbery for a cause: Imagine scavenging defunct communication satellites for their valuable parts and recycling them to build brand new ones for cheap.

It's the latest pet project from the Pentagon's research wing known for its quirky and sometimes out-there ideas. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is spending $180 million to test technologies that could make this possible."

As said in the above quote DARPA is the odd one out that does some strange/cool things. With partners they have created things such as the Javelin Missile, XOS1 and XOS2, and this new project to go scavenger on junked satlites, in orbit.

Ridicules ridicule

Joel, has taken the liberty of creating his own Ten Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe, but he is doing it in a mocking tone, not to mention none of what he says it true.
1. A mistranslated book written by cave people is a reliable guide to the modern world.
First, the Jew most certainly were not "cave people". Secondly  it is not mistranslated, we have so mant copies of ancient Bibles/old testemens it we can cross reference them and most all are the same, ecpetf for a grammar error here and there.

7. To show our thanks for his sacrifice , we should put special crackers and wine in our mouths, where they will  be magically transformed into his flesh and blood, which we should then swallow despite taboos regarding cannibalism.
It does not turn into his blood and flesh, that is mess some nut job came up with, it is symbolic.

10. Thomas Kinkade is an awesome painter.
He is an awesome painter. Just because it is a little, dreamy does not mean he isn't a good painter.

Oops

How would you like to have a mansion that could hold over 200 people in the banquet hall? It would be nice wouldn't it? Well Russian businessman Dmitry Stroskin did. Did being the key word here, he was away and had contracted a construction comply to refurnish and revanvate the place, what happend instead was they ripped it down instead. There was a building on the property that was to be torn down, but the was not it.

Black Ops 2 came out on November 13 featuring many things that may become an actuality in war. In this game you use drones such as the fictional CLAW and the combat quad-copter.  Or are they? On Youtube there is a Chanel calked FPS RUSSIA that appears to have used a quad copter just like the ones in Black Ops. For veruis reasons I can not post the video, but if you want to see it just search FPS RUSSIA quad-copter. One of the many people working on this game said

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" may achieve more than just becoming one of the biggest entertainment products of the year. The best-selling video game could help shape the real-world thinking of the U.S. military through its science fiction story of a Cold War playing out between the U.S. and China in 2025."

While I will say it is a cool idea to have armed drones running around in combat, there is at least three problems with this. When do we give the robot the choice to kill pull the trigger to kill the human. When do we let the Robot deiced if someone lives or dies? What happens if it starts firing on our own troops?Lastly what about civilians  Unlike people robots will not be able to tell the difference between a terrorist and a civilian. A robot won't know the meaning of mercy only what it is programmed to do.
